Hi, I'm Jenn — the mom behind The Money Mentor Mom.

Growing up with immigrant parents, money was something we didn't really talk about. What I did pick up was that it was scarce, and that you had to work incredibly hard for every dollar. No one ever sat me down and taught me how it actually worked, so I had to figure it out on my own.

I still remember what it felt like carrying $35,000 in student loan debt and living paycheque to paycheque, all while graduating into one of the worst recessions we'd seen in years. Today, I'm consumer debt-free, I own my home, I have healthy retirement savings, and yes, we still take our yearly family vacations. Turns out you don't have to choose between building wealth and enjoying your life.

 

I got my start in the industry working at two of Canada's Big Six banks, which gave me a real behind-the-scenes understanding of how banking works. But it wasn't until I switched careers and started earning more that things really clicked, and that's when I dove headfirst into investing and building my net worth. Now that I have littles of my own, I'm making it my mission to bring financial literacy into our home and help other moms and parents build money confidence in their homes.
